Barry's Main Axe is a Sunburst 1970 Fender Jazz Bass with a Reverse Bowtie Neck. S/N 362347 |
"When I found the Bass it already had a "Badass 2" bridge, and the original pickups had been replaced with EMG's". " I have since replaced the EMG's with Seymour Duncan "Antiquity" pickups. 1044-01 Neck and 1044-02 Bridge (Black are the 60's model and White are the 70's). " They were the closest sounding pickups I could find to the originals that were in my '73 Jazz" |
"This is my number two Bass". "This 1973 Fender Jazz is 100% original including all the chrome covers, pickups, and frets". "It had an early 60's bridge when I got it." I have all of the original parts stored. Right now it has a Badass 2 bridge and EMG pickups and electronics (active 12v). I plan to put a set of "Antiquity" pickups in it very soon. I miss the sound of the stock pickups but I didn't want to destroy them, they were starting to act strange. |
I had his Pedula Thunder six made for me in the mid 90's. As far as I know it was the last of the Thunder line made. They called me and asked if I wanted the last of the old model or the first of the new ones. I had no idea what the new model was so I said give me the last of the old line. I love the quilt maple oil finish. It looks great and has great sustain. It also has active Bartolinni pickups. They did screw up though, I ordered all gold hardware and it came with black.

You won't see many of these around! Peavy did a Jeff Berlin signature bass for two years only called the "Peladiaum". I bought 2 of them in the early 90's when they first came out. This one is from the first run, I also had a red one from the second run. The first run said Peladiaum really big on the head stock. The second run said Peavy really big on the head stock. By the way I hated the second run. It just wasn't the same.
This thing is the fastest playing Bass I have ever had. It's light and the neck is super thin depth wise. From your thumb to your finger tips can't be more than an inch and a half or so. It definitly has a sound of it's own. You know, that spectacular Bass sound that guitar players and keyboard players HATE! Check out Jeff Berlin's "Pump It" or any of the Bill Bruford solo stuff. You'll know what I'm talking about! |

This thing has a neck kinda' like an old Gibson EB-3L. It sounds great. Silver electronics, EQ, 1/4 inch and XLR jacks. Fun to play. I wish it had the Gold electronics package though. |

"My new latest and greatest."
Well, it doesn't look new, but it sure plays great. I'm usually very carefull about the finish on my guitars. Purchacing a new bass that was pre-beat some how didn't make sense, but when I played this bass I fell in love with it. It took me about 2 years to work a deal that made sense to get one. Alder body, P-Bass controls, but most of all it has that early 60's C-Neck, fretless, and that "Jaco Growl" |
